I went to a seminar in Baltimore, Maryland where I was in the company of about 500 entrepreneurs.

I considered myself to be one of them.

But I wanted more. I wanted to ascend to a higher level of success and I was there seeking guidance on just how I was going to achieve such a level. I knew I would find it. There were entrepreneurs from all walks of life, with varying degrees of success. Some had achieved far more than I had and some were just getting started.

I was somewhere in the middle.

During a break, I somehow gravitated towards a guy who seemed to have it all. He was extremely outgoing...like me. He was good looking..like...he was good looking. But more importantly he seemed to have the ability to act.

I approached him and introduced myself and we started talking shop. He was running his business from an office, had two full time employees and was working part-time hours. I wanted to know how he was able to accomplish such a feat because I was still working out of a spare bedroom from home and my then wife was tired of all the phone calls and the noises associated with my busy little office.

Look, I wanted to get out and have a real business with a real office but I was afraid. I was afraid of the cost. I was afraid of being out of my comfort zone.

Would I be able to afford the rent? Did I really need all that space? Would I really grow from treating my business like a real business?

I ask those magical words. Jason, how did you do it? How did you transition to the next level?

I told him I was afraid. I told him it was fear. I told him I had an inability to act. I told him how I agnozied for nearly three years on how to get to the next level. The thoughts in my head said, "No. Not yet. It's not time. You're not ready."

Some would call that self limiting beliefs or fear of the unknown. Honestly, it's both.

More importantly, I needed to decide when I was going to act. Many say change takes place over time. Some may take six months, some a year or longer.

I disagree....back to Jason...

Twenty minutes later, Jason shared his secret. Now I'm going to share it with you.

Jason said, "You simply need to decided right here, right now that you will take action. Formulate a plan and take the first step. That's the first step in your ability to act."

So we sat down and with the end result in mind, we worked our way backwards. We created small chucks of things that needed to be done to make my inability to act into something positive.

Two days later, the entrepreneurs event ended Sunday evening and Monday I was on a flight back to Kansas City.

That very afternoon, I began looking for a very small office (baby steps) and by the end of the week I had moved and had a real business.

I have always keep Jason's advice near and use it in my everyday life.

By the way, that advice helped to double my business within 7 months of listening to his advice.
