Our 2nd overnight stop on the way to Haden was here at Minden retreat, just a stones throw of the M1. The owner runs a retreat out of the facility at he top of the property, but he has opened up quite a large paddock to caravans and RV's (no tents allowed). There are no showers, toilets, water etc., so you need to be totally self sufficient and contained. He charges $5 per week (so if you are there for 1 or 7 nights it's $5), how good is that. The owner is a very nice lay back guy who, when we rang, just said drive in pick a spot wherever you like and put your $5 in he red letter box near the gate. We went to the Plain Lands pub and had one of the best meals we have ever had, the beers and wine were icy cold and the service great. It was a very busy pub reflecting the quality I guess. Barb made friends with the horse and then we kicked back in preparation for our last leg of the trip to Haden where we will be farm sitting for 3 weeks. In the morning the owner (I forgot his name) brought us down 8 mangoes of his tree to take with us.
Next stop - mmm, not sure yet (Maybe Noosa).
