Edit 2024-Sep-6: The replacement mainboard arrived from RisingCam today. I dropped it in, took 5 minutes to fiddle around getting the ribbon cable to insert, and then tested it. The camera works again. There was no cost for the support or replacement part, so RisingCam did indeed follow through.
Edit 2025-Aug-22: I've since added a power switch by the simple expedient of buying a pass-through 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel jack on/off switch and sticking it to the side of the camera with 3M foam double-sided tape. Cost me around $1.60 or so (I typically build up a stock list and wait until one of the frequent sales on AliExpress before I order anything). Link: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/325680...
I had not used my microscope camera for a couple months (the tasks I was doing didn't need microscopy) until the night of August 28th. I plugged the camera in and.. huh.. no power.
This video details that issue, the diagnostics and repair attempt, and the support given by RisingCam. RisingCam has been very prompt and responsive with their support and I am soon to have a replacement motherboard on the way, at which point I will post an update.
