Youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation have myriad negative reproductive health outcomes, including high rates of unplanned pregnancy and sexual transmitted infections.
Yet, there are currently no sexual health interventions tailored to the specific needs of this population. Therefore, we partnered with youth impacted by commercial sexual exploitation, lived experience experts, and service providers to develop a culturally relevant, youth-friendly, and gender inclusive sexual health intervention.
The My Body, My Choice intervention, which includes an adapted, evidence-based, reproductive health curriculum and mHealth technology, aims to improve youths’ sexual health education and outcomes.
This session describes the process of using a community engaged approach to develop a digital health intervention as well as the lessons learned and preliminary outcomes.
Webinar was recorded on February 11, 2022.
This webinar is brought to you by the UCLA Center for Social Medicine and Humanities. Co-sponsored by the Research Theme in Health Equity & Translational Social Science (HETSS) and the Rangell Social Medicine Grand Rounds Series.
