My method for preheating my airplane before starting on cold days or when she has been sitting (cold soak) in the low 30's all night. I can easily raise the engine block up a good 15 to 20 degrees from ambient temperature in about 60 to 90 minutes. The oil sump a bit higher.
Total cost was under $300 for the system. The Champion 1400 watt generator was $180 on sale at Tractor Supply, the barn heater was $25 at Home Depot.
NOTEs: where I refer to the two "heating blankets" in the video I should have said "moving blankets"... the type you wrap furniture in. The thin foil green colored blanket between them is called a "space blanket" and can be found at sporting goods stores like Cabellas for about $20.
Also, you need to defeat both the thermostat and the safety shut off or the heater will power down in about 2 minutes from the restriction of the flange and pipe.
