Cuphead - 300% Speedrun

There were a lot of ups and downs this run, but we ended it on a high note and managed to get the very first sub-1:01:30 in this category! The beginning of the run was phenomenal, especially thanks to some new parry cancel tech we implemented during King's Leap, but some bad fights in the middle game put us a little in the red. We finished it off with a clutch Devil despite bad RNG to get a new WR!

Originally, I said that getting a sub-1:01:30 was the last goal I had for this category, but looking back at this run it's really making me realize how much time we can still save. I'm probably going to keep pushing the record lower for now. We'll see where it ends up!

Some commonly asked questions:

Q: How are you able to play on Expert without beating the game first?

A: Speedrunners use something called the "Fresh Expert" glitch for Expert mode categories. Basically, if you have a save file where you've already beaten the game, you access that first and select a boss. On the difficulty select, you put the cursor over "Expert" (no need to actually fight the boss), and then back out and Exit to Title. When you start a new file you will begin the game on Expert.

Q: Why do you fight all of the King Dice minibosses?

A: While they technically don't contribute to file percentage, we decided in the speedrunning community to include them in the 300% category since it fills out the Checklist in the menu. That's also the same reason we require buying all the weapons/charms despite them not contributing to file percentage either; it's just nice looking from a completionist perspective!
