Built by George England of the Hatcham Iron Works in Newcross, East London "Dwarf" was one of the smallest mainline passenger locomotives ever built! Delivered in 1849 to the London & Blackwall Railway, in 1853 she was purchased by the mighty LNWR to operate the Permanent Way Engineers' saloon. Retired from service in 1877 and put aside for preservation, "Dwarf" was tragically cut up in 1888 following fire damage.
