Placing your most efficient pulleys closest to the haul team will yield better MAs for simple & compound systems, however it is not as clear cut & dry with complex systems. For example, in a complex 5:1, placing the least efficient pulley as the progress capture (1st change of direction at the anchor closest to the load) will not be as efficient as making it the traveling pulley that moves back toward the anchor... So the order of most efficient pulleys for a complex 5:1 is as follows:
1st - high efficient pulley closest to haul team
2nd - least efficient pulley in the middle
3rd - high efficient pulley closest to load
