Ankii's kitchen khazana presents how to bake and decorate Black forest cake using simple baking tips at home.
Black Forest cake has multiple layers of chocolate sponge cake, cherries, and whipped cream. It is frosted with whipped cream and covered with chocolate shavings and a few cherries for decoration. Kirschwasser (cherry schnapps) is used to flavor the whipped cream. The bottom layers of sponge cake are also brushed with Kirschwasser (cherry schnaps) to provide moisture and a little extra flavor
In this video I have demonstrated the basic baking tip that you can do at home using ingredients which might be easily available to you even during the lockdown.
Incase you don't have cream you can follow the steps below:
1. Boil milk
2. Collect the cream and refrigerate it.
3. After you have collected a good amount of cream, whisk it slowly for a minute.
4. Add icing sugar to it and whisk is at higher speed for 10 minutes or until you observe soft peaks of the cream.
5. Turn the bowl upside down to check it doesn't fall. If it keeps sticking it means the cream is ready to be used.
Generally cherries are used for garnishing and cherry brandy is used to moist the cake layers. Since I didn't have either of the two, I have used simple sugar syrup mixed with few drops of red wine. It added the similar taste and flavour of black forest cake.
I have baked the cake in OTG. If you don't have oven or OTG, you can bake the cake in cooker for 17-20 mins to achieve the right taste and texture.
To prepare the frosting mix 75g whipping cream powder with 50g milk and whisk until soft peak forms.
The sugar syrup used contains 2 tsp sugar in 10 tsp water and 5 tsp red wine.
