Government is mobilizing funds to expand and rehabilitate Arthur Davison Children’s Hospital in Ndola.
Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo said government will also increase human resources at the hospital as part of efforts to improve healthcare services in the region.
Mr. Matambo explained that the approach will mirror the formula used in rehabilitating Ndola, Kitwe, and Kalulushi hospitals, which involved collaboration with the private sector and business communities to facilitate modernization.
Earlier, the hospital’s Senior Medical Superintendent, Dr. Bwendo Nduna, called for expanded facilities and increased staffing to meet the growing demand for pediatric services.
Dr. Nduna noted that with only 310 beds and occupancy rates often exceeding 100 percent, demand far outstrips the hospital’s current capacity.
