With people:
search 3 months in advance to get roommates and then start looking
buildings May list apartments that aren’t actually available for your dates, check before getting excited!
brokers do roommate matching but not many do
or you can search Facebook/RentHop/Craigslist for rooms only to see which ones are in there
Roomi is a good option but there are multiple things you need to pay for in order to get a good experience (background check, ID Verification, etc)
if you decide you want to lease takeover move quickly because just like the market things move fast
check if the broker fee is paid by the building or not and until when. incentives don't last forever!
1. Search by Room only on RentHop - it's a lot of June homes stuff, but keep an eye peeled!
2. if you are trying to join or do a lease takeover look on spare room and Roomi, you can use Renthop but not as many hits.
3. rent hop is better if you are trying to find large apartments to fill. It's an alternative to street easy and finding vacant apartments!
4. Facebook Marketplace you can also search by room only to try to find places to slot yourself into, I would be a little wary of large listings found here cause I've seen some people directly snatch listings from real brokers ... sketch
