Durban Tender Tycoon Sbo Mkhwanazi Shot 23 Times in Broad Daylight at Westville Mall

Описание: In this episode, we unpack the heartbreaking murder of 30-year-old Durban civil engineer and businessman Sbo Mkhwanazi, who was gunned down in a brazen daylight shooting outside a shopping centre in Westville, KwaZulu-Natal.

On Tuesday, 17 February 2026, Sbo had just finished running errands when he exited the mall in his grey Porsche. As he stopped at a traffic light near the exit, a white Toyota Land Cruiser reportedly pulled up next to his vehicle.

Two armed men exited the SUV and opened fire — shooting at Sbo’s car 23 times before fleeing the scene.

According to ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, emergency services received multiple distress calls reporting a shooting. Upon arrival, paramedics found SAPS already on scene and a vehicle riddled with bullet holes. Sadly, Sbo had succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

Police confirmed that 23 AK-47 cartridges were recovered and a murder case has since been opened. As of now, the suspects remain unidentified and are still at large.

The Westville Community Policing Forum has urged residents and local businesses to check CCTV footage and report any suspicious activity that may assist with the ongoing investigation.

Originally from Ulundi in KwaZulu-Natal, Sbo studied civil engineering at the Durban University of Technology and founded Veyani Consulting Engineers in 2020. He is survived by his wife and children.

Authorities are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that may help bring those responsible to justice.
