'Lammping' is the first single from the upcoming 'Flashjacks' LP, out on vinyl on Echodelick Records (https://www.echodelickrecords.com/) this summer.
After their critically acclaimed debut LP release on Nasoni Records in July 2020, the band got to work on a new collection of songs, further expanding the sonic possibilities of psychedelic music. The foundation of the sound remains rooted in Jay Anderson's heavy drumming and Mikhail Galkin's melodic riffs, but with the addition of samples, drum machines and a variety of instrumentation, the upcoming LP's sonic palate is just as indebted to Stereolab, De La Soul and Kraftwerk as it is to Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer and Sleep.
Sonically and thematically, this single is a mission statement of sorts, laying out the band's new experimental direction, eschewing cliched stoner and psych-rock tropes, and attempting to forge a new path in heavy music.
lyrics:
All my friends made tapes
Some of them made records
Let me put this onto tape
And I'll be with you in a second
Since I was "yay high"
I've been playing in the street
My mother never worried once
I had music in my feet
I see colours: red and green
The future is uncertain
The future is hard to see
But rest assured no two-bit hustler
Is gonna get a hit off me
Yeah I took what I could take
Now I found something to give
And I will strum this note of mine
As long as I can live
I see colours, red and green
I see something in between
If you learn to love
then you'll know what I mean
I don't look over my shoulder
Whatever will be will be
And I hold on to what I hold to
And make no enemy
And since I was "yay high"
I found no one to blame
And I was taught not to have pride
And you will feel no shame
Let's walk together
x 8
I see colours, red and green
I see something in between
If you learn to love
then you'll know what I mean
