A deep-space recovery team answers a faint distress signal beneath the frozen crust of Callisto, one of Jupiter’s moons. The beacon matches a research submarine lost ten years ago. But when the team reaches the wreck, they realize something impossible — the power is still running, and the signal isn’t a call for help. It’s bait.

As the ocean stirs below the ice, something ancient and intelligent awakens — a vast organism that learned to imitate human technology to lure its prey. Trapped in the crushing black depths, the crew must fight to escape before the thing beneath the ice learns something new: how to find them again.
