In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio discussing the future of the USC/Notre Dame football series. Since 1926 the Trojans and the Fighting Irish have met on the gridiron 95 times, but as of now the game isn't on the schedule after the 2025 college football season. The guys talk about what they have heard from inside the athletic department about the series and if they think the annual meeting between these two storied programs is actually in jeopardy of ending.
The guys also discuss the latest on the Trojan football recruiting front, with USC's lead for the No. 1 spot in the 2026 recruiting class shrinking following the de-commit of five-star linebacker Xavier Griffin. They talk about if Griffin could still be in the mix for this USC class, who some of the other big names that are out there and if they anticipate any more players de-committing.
With Big Ten athletic directors, coaches and presidents meeting this week, the guys talk about the changes in the college football landscape, including a proposed College Sports Commission that would oversee the new rules implemented by the House settlement. There is a major push to get all of the power FBS programs in line, though some programs and their state governments are pushing to keep unlimited pay for play with NIL collectives going indefinitely.
