The Leper Colony is a project initiated in 2014 in Amsterdam by Ricardo Alvarez, guitarist, singer, composer. He recorded the songs The Yeppin Monkey, Hear me, My love is Gone, Shame. These songs are waiting to be released.

Alvarez started recording and composing songs in 1980 with the Amsterdam based punk band The Clapcats, with whom he recorded a live album, as a support act for Siouxsie and the Banshees in Paradiso, which going te be released in december 2021. In the mid eighties he wrote and recorded tracks with disco singer Richenel. Released on 4AD

He formed his own band John in the late 80ies, merely rock based songs with loud choruses and soft and tender verses. Later known as grunge. He studied film and televsion and worked as a documenatory director for decades, but never left composing for his bands John or Lala Heaven, with the latter he toured several summers in Spain.

In '92 Alvarez recorded his guitar tracks with the Spanish sixties band Ruby’s Gang for the JFK label in Leon, produced by Kike Kardiako

In 2015 Alvarez moved to Spain and met drummer/producer Pepe López in León city with whom he recorded the album Dig!, which will be released on Rock Izar Records in 2022.
