Two commercial ATLAS Classe A elevators in a former high-end hotel, which I filmed waay back in 2019. Managed to come here again, for a better video.
This is still a posh place that still looks and feels like it did in the 80s, as they didn't renovate a lot of things. And I like this better than if they had overhauled the entire place to look like every boring modern place nowadays. Mantained all the charm, I really like the architecture in here, it's beautiful and elegant.
*UPDATE:* These elevators were replaced by an unknown local company in 2024. The hotel closed down and the building was sold to be repurposed into offices.
Only 2 elevators for guests, with another identical car in a shaft just behind, for service (which staff kindly allowed me to see back in 2019, but I didn't film it).
These are in really great shape, well preserved and mantained. The cabs are a small for the size of the building, but it appears they don't have problems with that as the usage isn't too high. The cabs have mirrors in the rear and side walls, giving that endless reflection effect. It isn't common to find that much mirrors in elevators over here, generally only on one side of the wall. Some of my fans seem to be a bit obsessed about the mirrors in the elevators I come across, so I hope this satisfies them.
Beyond that, just a average plain cabs with nothing of special in them, but still fit well with the look of the place.
The fixtures are in great condition, too, no smashed buttons, illumination lighting up properly, all of that. The bells are worth mentioning here - they still light up and ring as new, I don't see many of those as good as this! Got me a good shot of those ringing.
Notice on level R, the missing button rings - I never saw that, reminds me of some Innovation designs. They still work fine, only a cosmetic change. Can't know if the owners did that on purpose, because other floors still have them normally.
They are riding well, very good for Classe As, even. Didn't find any issues while riding. They don't shake, vibrate or jolt, the leveling is nice, but the feeling of movement is very noticeable for passengers. The cars also make a lot noise when moving, sounding like a high-speed elevator, but beyond that, there's hardly any shaft noises to be heard, and for that, the sound isn't even that loud, won't scare away any guests. Yeah, these aren't quiet in their job.
Speaking of noise, the motors sound different from the usual of commercial-grade Classe As. They lack the DC pulsing, leveling sound and loud starts and stops, and the sound is more continuous sounding. I never heard motors like these on other Classe As, and wonder if they're replaced.
At 1:41 there's a pretty good show of the Westinghouseness in the controllers... the doors are very impatient, that's the one thing Villares didn't need to inherit from them. At least the PO (Push to Open) buttons work, I guess...

The lanterns and their bells complete the charm on them!
