This bikepacking loop was created by Matt Acker, adventure biker extraordinaire. Matt has painstakingly created numerous bikepacking routes in our beautiful state, complete with so many details. I find mine on his Strava profile. He also has a website for his Michigan Off Road Expedition route. Check that out. And my previous contents on biking sections of it.
This bikepacking adventure was our first of the season, and a great one to get us going; 3 days 2 nights, 104 miles.
This route offered a great mix of gravel, seasonal roads, single track and a limited amount of pavement.
Sharon and I biked off course about 6 miles to a Hipcamp, Lynx Run, to stay our first night. Our second night was a dispersed camp off the North Country Trail. Thought the weather was on the chilly side, our spirits stayed upbeat, for the most part, and we enjoyed all that bikepacking brings. Memories. Great and challenging biking, immersion in the northern Michigan woods and an escape from the everyday.
