How to Long Tail Cast On

Set up
1. Begin with a slip knot. Tail length should measure 3 times desired width.
2. Orient needle with slip knot, with the tail end closer to you and the working end further from you.
3. Insert your thumb and pointer fingers between the two yarn strands.
4. Grab hold of the two yarn strands with your other fingers.
5. Separate your thumb and pointer finger.
6. Turn your palm to face you.
Cast-on motion
1. Define the yarn as three sections.
2. Move your needle in front then under section 1 and lift.
3. Slide the needle over section 2, creating a loop.
4. Sweep the needle behind section 3 then towards you through the loop you created.
5. Remove your thumb from the loop.
6. Pull the tail end to secure the loop to the needle.
