That’s right—killer worms. And yet, somehow, *Tremors* manages to turn this ridiculous premise into one of the most entertaining creature features ever made.

Compared to today’s overly serious, CGI-laden monster flicks, *Tremors* is refreshingly low-tech, relying on practical effects, clever camera work, and a whole lot of charm to deliver the goods. The cast plays it perfectly straight, which only makes the absurdity more fun, and the movie’s blend of humor, suspense, and gooey monster mayhem keeps you hooked from start to finish. It’s like a perfect B-movie that doesn’t realize it’s a B-movie—or maybe it does and just doesn’t care. With its snappy one-liners, DIY monster effects, and Kevin Bacon in full ‘I’m-too-good-for-this-but-having-a-blast-anyway’ mode, *Tremors* digs its way right into your heart and reminds you that sometimes, all you need is a little bit of grit and a lot of giant underground worms to make movie magic.
