Thai, or ภาษาไทย (Phasa Thai), is the official language of Thailand and is spoken by over 70 million people. What makes Thai unique is its tonal system—each syllable can have 5 different tones: low, mid, high, rising, and falling. This means that the same word can have completely different meanings depending on how you say it!

The Thai script is elegant and curvy, derived from Old Khmer writing. It has 44 consonants and 15 vowel symbols that combine into over 30 vowel forms. Thai is rich in politeness markers too—like ครับ (khráp) for men and ค่ะ (khâ) for women, which are added to the end of sentences to show respect.

Learning Thai can feel tricky at first, but it’s incredibly rewarding. Once you start recognizing tones and symbols, you’ll unlock a whole new world of culture, music, and cuisine! 🌶️🍜

Fun fact: Thai words for numbers and colors are often used in everyday conversation to describe things in creative ways, making the language playful and vibrant.
