₱3.54-BILLION SHABU HAUL: FILIPINA, 51, LINKED TO PROBE INTO ALLEGED INTERNATIONAL DRUG NETWORK
MANILA, Philippines — Malaysian authorities are investigating the alleged role of a 51-year-old Filipino woman suspected of coordinating activities connected to an international drug trafficking operation following the seizure of 521 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine in Laos.
According to reports, the seized drugs were valued at approximately ₱3.54 billion. Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, director of Malaysia’s Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, said investigators have been gathering statements and examining the people allegedly involved in arranging the private aircraft used in the operation.
Investigators reportedly identified a 54-year-old Filipino man, described as a former pilot with a previous drug-related criminal record in the Philippines, as the person who allegedly chartered the aircraft. A Malaysian national is also suspected of acting as a broker in arranging the rental. Authorities are still working to establish the precise roles of the individuals under investigation.
The case stems from the reported discovery of 521 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine aboard a private jet at Luang Prabang International Airport in Laos on October 1, 2026. Malaysian police are reportedly coordinating with Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as they pursue additional information about the alleged cross-border operation.
THE BIG QUESTION: Was the 51-year-old Filipina allegedly a key link in a wider international drug network, or will further investigation reveal a different picture?
Authorities must still establish the evidence, individual responsibilities, and any criminal liability through the proper legal process. Being investigated or suspected does not establish guilt.
