Описание:
This film was made in 1965, and features life as it was in the village of Potterne, near Devizes, Wiltshire.
The film includes milking time on the local farm, and the subsequent deliveries by the village’s milkman; the post office in the High Street (now closed) and repairs to the bells in St Mary’s Church.
Also included is rarely seen footage of the Wiltshire Fire Brigade’s Headquarters, situated on the outskirts of Potterne, along with the builder’s yard belonging to Pearce’s.
George Day, the camera operator, and the film’s producer, Cedric Pearce, were well known in the village and together made several films of events and happenings in and around Potterne, some of which can now be shown to a wider audience thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant allowing Windrose to digitise many of the films in its collection.
