As per J Sai Deepak’s in 2019, significant developments occurred, including the amendment (not abrogation) of Article 370. He also mentions the Supreme Court judgment on November 9, 2019, regarding the Ram Janmabhoomi case. Deepak recounts an incident where a student, criticized his tweet calling India "Bharat" as "unsecular." In response, he cited Article 1 of the Indian Constitution, which defines India as "Bharat, a Union of States," leading the student to delete their tweet.
Deepak delves into history, starting with 1757, a pivotal year marked by the Battle of Plassey, where Robert Clive defeated the Nawab of Bengal. Deepak debunks the myth of "200 years of British rule," explaining that British control began with a small sliver of Bengal in 1757 was only consolidated by 1847 after conquering Punjab and Sindh. He argues that the British did not take Delhi from the Mughals but from the Marathas after three Anglo-Maratha wars, the last in 1818-1819. The Maratha Empire, under leaders like Balaji baji rao, was a dominant force until the Third Battle of Panipat in 1761, yet even after this, the Marathas reconquered much of Bharat by 1771, reducing the Mughal emperor to a puppet. Deepak also notes the Sikh Empire’s resistance until 1846.
Deepak highlights the Sannyasi Rebellion (1763–1800), a 40-year resistance led by Naga warrior ascetics against British rule, far outlasting the 1857 First War of Independence, which lasted 16–18 months. These ascetics, part of the Dasnami sect established by Adi Shankaracharya protecting sacred sites and continuing to congregate at the Kumbh Mela. Deepak argues that the real break in Hindu consciousness occurred in the 1830s with the introduction of English education. The "last nail in the civilizational coffin" was 1857, after which the British tightened control. Deepak clarifies that Hindutva was not coined by Veer Savarkar but by Chandranath Basu in 1892 in his book Hindutva, defining it as the "essence" or "Hindu-ness" of being Hindu. Deepak critiques the ongoing mental colonization post-1947, noting that while political independence was achieved, civilizational decolonization remains incomplete. He challenges the denial of Bharatiya’s resilience despite centuries of invasions, likening it to questioning the Holocaust’s impact given Jewish survival.
Deepak critiques the Aryan Invasion Theory as a colonial construct to divide Hindus, particularly alienating South Indians, who have internalized this "alien nonsense" with "indigenous pride." He argues that Hindu identity is not race-based but rooted in dharma, a spiritual consciousness tied to the land, distinct from Western frameworks. He cites Emperor kanishka, of non-Indian origin, as an example of how Bharat embraces diverse identities based on shared consciousness.
