These interceptors use high-explosive fragmentation warheads guided by active radar and command guidance, allowing the system to defend large airspaces against diverse threats rather than focusing on a single target type.

🇺🇸 THAAD Interceptor
The American THAAD system is built exclusively to destroy ballistic missiles during their terminal phase. Its interceptor uses a hit-to-kill kinetic design with no explosive warhead, relying on direct impact at extremely high speed to neutralize targets. THAAD can intercept missiles at ranges of roughly 200 km and at altitudes reaching up to 150 km, including near-space engagements. Guided by an advanced infrared seeker and supported by the powerful AN/TPY-2 radar, THAAD is optimized for high-altitude missile defense rather than aircraft interception.
