This was the only song that Upala specifically asked me to play at her funeral, some weeks before she passed.
I believe this song - created during a retreat in Slovenia and recorded in South Africa - had a special meaning to her.
Karen - before she started using the name Upala - had spent many years of her life feeling like she couldn't truly be herself. This was her struggle, and I believe this song brought healing to this old wound.
And just like the song ends with a celebration, I believe she too, in the last years of her life, celebrated the amazing gift of simply being yourself.
