Finlaggan - the ancient home of Scotland's 'Lord of the Isles' - lies just a few miles south-west of Port Askaig on the beautiful Isle of Islay on Scotland's west coast.
While Islay is mostly known for it's heady, peaty whisky's, there's a huge amount of history on this island too, and a little exploration will reward visitors with a fascinating voyage of discovery into Scotland's past.
Loch Finlaggan has three small islands in it which feature a collection of buildings and graves of the nobles that once lived there, and there's even a small museum that explains the history of this hauntingly beautiful land.
Finlaggan proves once again that there's more to this remarkable island than you might initially think.
