In Parliament, concerns were raised urging the Finance Minister to increase the standard deduction from ₹75,000 to ₹1.5 lakh to provide relief to the salaried class.

Meanwhile, household expenses continue to climb:
Education up 8%, Healthcare 9%, Rent 7%, Food 6%, Transport 5%.

For the first time in years, personal income tax collections have reportedly surpassed corporate tax collections with individuals contributing around ₹11 lakh crore compared to corporates at ₹9.8 lakh crore.
