The white chalk cliffs are a prominent feature of the southern coast of England, stretching from the Jurassic coastline in Devonshire to the white cliffs of Dover. The Seven Sisters and Beachy head in East Sussex, Old Harry Rocks in Dorset area are some famous ones, but the White Cliffs of Dover are world-renowned. The sheer cliffs of Dover are a British national symbol, and have been a strategic defense to enemies over centuries. Dunkirk tunnels are in here. The Dover Castle also stands guard overlooking the sea.
Shakespeare immortalized the White Cliffs in King Lear. A prominent World War 2 song ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’, is a popular number which signifies peace amid war and is a tribute to this magnificent natural beauty on the English Channel
