On Dec. 11, the Kansas Health Institute hosted a summit that explored how collaboration and innovation can help fund and sustain rural health efforts. Set against a backdrop of shifting funding availability, new opportunities and persistent resource gaps, the second annual Health on the Plains Summit examined strategies, collaborations and innovations to strengthen rural health efforts.
The event highlighted the rapidly changing landscape of governmental funding support for rural health, new programs designed to close gaps in access to care, and potential policy levers to advance rural health.
Attendees also heard from state and national leaders in non-governmental organizations who are finding and testing innovative ways to maintain and grow access to funding and resources. By showcasing current efforts and areas for innovation, the summit provided insights into the vital role funding plays in advancing and sustaining rural health efforts and ways we can move forward in an ever-changing funding environment.
