The drum & bass legend plays Clipz's forthcoming debut full-length, Saturday Specials, from start to finish.
Earlier this month, Clipz, Jumpin Jack Frost and XL Recordings boss Richard Russell met at Music House in Tottenham, North London, to cut some dubplates. Not for the first time, the tunes being pressed were fresh and unavailable. Saturday Specials, Clipz's forthcoming debut full-length, is a drum & bass remix album of Friday Forever, the second LP by Russell under his Everything Is Recorded alias. The original is heavy on collaborations, with cameos from Sampha, FLOHIO, Ghostface Killah and many more.
A few days later, with the new dubs ready to rock, Clipz and Jumpin Jack Frost headed to fabric, where Frost was due on the decks in Room One. The club, of course, was totally empty, but he tore the roof off anyway, chopping and blending his way through Saturday Specials with his usual grace and body-shocking energy. The entire set was filmed. Behold a drum & bass masterclass.
