Following a SAHE (Student advocates for higher education) Scholarship ceremony in San Jose, Ca. Attorney at law Richard Hobbs provided information on the qualifications for the 'Deferred action' plan. Eligible individuals can obtain work authorization in the U.S. for two years and this authorization is subject to renewal at the end of those two years. Applicants who qualify avoid deportation during that time and will be able to obtain a restricted social security card, a driver's license, and I.D.
This is work authorization not permanent residence or citizenship.
