When it comes to training new employees in the dental office, it is important to remember that working in a dentist’s office is often like working in a place they speak another language. We need to slow down and train the new employees well - so they can become a good team member. Moreover, we need to build upon each skill we’re teaching them and give them time to apply what they’ve learned.
Think about some of the words we use in the dental office! Words like endo, prophylaxis, bridge, a crown, and the many dental codes and procedures, these can all be very overwhelming and confusing to a new team member, and yes - possibly completely foreign to them!
There are going to be plenty of questions that your new employee may not think to ask because this is something brand new to them and as well, every dental office is different! Don’t focus on a short term finish line - instead incorporate continual learning into your practice.
