Almost 2 hours late running Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)- Shalimar (SHM) Super-Crawler Express (or should I say, fast Passsenger) headed by 22867 HWH shed WAP-4 hurriedly speeds through the beautiful curvy Khirai station enroute before somewhat slowing down due to track maintainence works on its route. The train uses the LTT- Kalyan- Manmad- Bhusaval- Akola- Badnera- Nagpur- Gondia- Durg- Raipur- Bilaspur- Jharsaguda- Rourkela- Tatanagar- Kharagpur- Santragachi- Shalimar route, and takes 38 hours 25 minutes to cover the 1947 kms with an irritating 81 halts enroute. Earlier the train was called KURLA Express.. Btw, Khirai is situated on the double line Kharagpur- Panskura stretch (work on third line is going on) of SER's Howrah- Kharagpur territory. On the railfanning trip, giving me company was railfan Vivian Boye.
