The Master System wasn't exactly renowned for arcade tournament fighters, but Masters of Combat proved to be quite interesting.
It has a reasonable selection of characters, all of whom have a variety of special moves. This is very much a game of countering, rather than chaining combos, and success comes from learning when and where to use each of the attacks.
