I always say you can not compare MM vs MC! (or vice versa 😁)
Lot of things should be the same.... Actually not all but everything! And nobody is able to do that. If indeed everything matches the same, you cant beat the fact that they have to use different amps. Even if its the same device with both inputs, they use diffrrent components inside and different signal path. But yes, that option is the closest one. Well, here is literally exactly such case, the same cables, same headshell with cables, phono amp, turntable, stylus and cantilever, tonearm alignment and resonance matching, cart's hours of play, the track.... And at the end i must admit, these carts are both amazing for their prices! 👌💛🤤
VM745 has 75 hours and AT33 82 hours. Loading settings are as recomended by Audio Technica: 100pf for VM745 and 100R for AT33. From the turntable to the phono is the stock RCA cable (not balanced for fair comparison) low capacitance by Pro-Ject. The rest of the chain are as follows (from phono to sound card by XLR cables, as always):
Turntable: Pro-Ject Debut Pro S
Cartridge: Audio Technica VM745xML & AT33PTG/II
Phono Amp: Musical Fidelity M6X Vinyl
Soundcard: Audient Evo 16
