Of all the destinations in Utah we targeted on this trip, Highway 12 from Bryce Canyon to Capital Reef was #1 on the list. On a prior trip, the entire road near Boulder was RED on UDOT. So we skipped it. Fast forward to this year, it was RED again....and then it was not! A massive snow system came through 24 hours prior, and the road from Boulder to Capital Reef literally opened up 4 hours prior to us getting there. So we just sent it! And it truly was one of the most memorable parts of our trip around the Mighty Five and Southern Utah.
EVERY pull off is a picture you will never forget. And the Hogbacks and road between Escalante and Boulder is pure magic.
Use the UDOT app in early spring to make sure your vehicle can make it through, Boulder mountain is definitely in the clouds, and you can expect snow most the year there!
