Описание: This talk is about how political apathy has become normalised, and why that’s a big problem for the future. Using real statistics of abstaining voters, it shows how choosing not to care or not to vote doesn’t keep someone “neutral”, but quietly helps corruption and gives more power to those who shouldn’t have it. In the end the message is quite simple: democracy only works if people show up. The future we shape depends on if we are willing to participate in its creation. Hence, the talk urges us to care enough to make decisions that influence the world we live in. Valeriia is 16 years old, currently in the first year of studying the IB diploma at St Clare’s in Oxford. She is from Ukraine, and having grown up during a time of political instability, she has developed an interest in democracy, civilian responsibility and importance of youth participation. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
