• The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning a major eastern extension of the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) to ease traffic on key Delhi roads.
• The six-lane highway 82 Km will start at Alipur in North Delhi and connect to the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway near Mandaula, eventually ending along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
• This expansion will offer a seamless corridor across Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, serving both local and out-of-town vehicles.
• The first 17-km leg of the extension is estimated to cost ₹3,350 crore, while a second 65km leg from Mandaula to Noida is projected to cost ₹7,500 crore.
• The project aims to create an alternative bypass, reducing traffic on major routes and improving connectivity between various cities and parts of Delhi.
● Bids for the preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) for both sections are currently being evaluated and are likely to be awarded soon.
