Brig RS Jamwal was commissioned as an officer in the Indian Army in 1976. After retirement Brig RS Jamwal started Lakshya Defence Academy in Jammu where from 211 students have cleared SSB to become officers; 294 have cleared Officer Level Written Exam for NDA/ CDS/ AFCAT/ ACC/ TA; AND 2148 soldiers have so far been recruited in the belt forces bringing the total to 2653 Selected Candidates. His contribution in preparing the youth for defence services is remarkable.
