In the HBO series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Egg (Prince Aegon Targaryen) trains Ser Duncan the Tall’s warhorse, Thunder, in Episode 3, "The Squire."
Egg’s Training Methods
Charging on Command: While Dunk is sleeping, Egg takes Thunder to a field to train him for the upcoming joust. Though the horse is initially uncooperative, Egg eventually teaches him to charge on command by shouting and racing alongside him with a lance and sword.
Gentle Communication: Contrary to the advice of his father (Prince Maekar), who believes horses "only understand the crop," Egg talks gently to the animal. He believes a horse "doesn't want to be ordered about any more than a man does," a philosophy that seems to work as the horse eventually follows his cues.
Lance Handoffs: Egg practices his role as a squire by lifting heavy weapons and positioning himself so Dunk can easily reach them from horseback during a joust.
