Wow, what a challenge to design some useful Presets on this old synth! All sounds are TG55 User Presets from TG55s VOICE/Internal mode. Recorded directly from TG55 outs to Emu sound card. Filter Cutoff is controlled with Modulation Wheel on almost every Preset.

TG55 is a rack version of Yamaha's keyboard SY55. They share the same sound structure and Presets (MIDI SysEx).

This is Yamaha TG55 Tone Generator, Yamaha's first ROMpler with 16bit samples (AWM2) from 1990. It has only 2 MB of 16bit ROM samples BUT - it also have very useful digital resonant filters (2 x 12dB Lo/Hi Pass). Also, there is very complex Preset structure and editable FX section. You can mix up to 4 samples as one Preset. Every sample/element has his own Amp/Pitch/Filter Envelopes, dual 12dB Filters (High and Low pass), LFO, FX send level, etc....

Disadvantage: polyphony! Only 16 voices (1 element Preset), 8 voices (2 Element Preset) or 4 voices (4 Element Preset). Also, there are only 58 multisamples (acoustic, synth...) and 16 drum samples.

You can add more samples with Yamaha's Waveform Cards (TG/SY series).
