The Supreme Court expresses grave concern over web portals and YouTube channels running amuck with fake news and slandering of reputations in absence of a regulatory mechanism. The top court also said- ‘we need a regulatory mechanism for the web. The issue needs a full debate’. The Chief Justice of India also expressed concerns over web content as he claims ‘fake news, distortions are rampant in web’ saying these portals write anything against judges, institutions without accountability and only listen to the powerful voices.
