Steven: I served in the USAF in 1981. I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle during my lunch hour when returning back to my base on Watt Ave (McClellan AFB, Sacramento, CA) i went to the base's hospital /emergency and was treated for "contusion on head and left knee". I left the service in Nov 1983 and I initially filed for VA disability in Dec,1983. I received a denial letter from the VA in April 1984. (needless to say, i did not know or understand how to properly follow through with the claim, so, i was discouraged and angry, so, I went on with my life. within the last few years, i reapplied for VA disability. Since the car accident, i have had two arthroscopic left knee surgeries (1995 & 2005) and I currently have a meniscus tear in the same knee. So far, i am VA disability service connected for10% Tinnitus (2019) and 10% Eczema (2022). I have been told by the VA that I have to file a supplemental claim in order to discuss my contusion left knee and head injury. I have a DBQ on file for my left knee from a C & P exam (2022) but I need a Nexus letter to connect the dots until now. In addition, i have been denied (TBI ) for my "head contusion " from the accident whereas, since this event, i have had numerous headaches, insomnia and I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea...including using a CPAP machine....
