Sharpening Jig for Chisels and Plane Blades

I made a sharpening jig that can be used to sharpen both chisels and hand plane blades. I am not using whetstones for sharpening but sandpapers instead. You can both dry and wet sharpen. The important thing is to have a flat surface so that the bevel is equally ground. You can set up an angle from 15° to 35°. Sandpapers are glued to the surface using temporary spray glue. You can easily remove them and replace them with a new one.

I started by making the chisel holder. It has 2 parallel grooves where aluminum tubes hold a threaded rod. Then I made the side stands. The important thing is to drill the holes on the sides equally same (height) so the jig is horizontally leveled and does not end up skewed. I attached the side stands to runners made from an aluminum flat bar. Finally, I cut 2 grooves in the base desk for the runners.
