Kigali Car Free Day
Initiated in 2016, Kigali Car Free Day is a bi-monthly mass sports event held on the first and third Sunday of every month. From 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, several main roads are closed to motorized vehicles, transforming the city streets into a vibrant space for:
Physical Activities: Thousands of residents join in for jogging, cycling, skating, and large-scale group aerobics.
Health Services: Participants can access free medical screenings for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including checks for blood pressure, glucose, and body mass index.
Community & Environment: The event fosters social cohesion and promotes a "green city" lifestyle by reducing car emissions and noise pollution.
