We call our rock 'n' roll guitar trio 'The Escalators' (L-R John Mitchell, Jez Quayle and Tony Rushworth).
I'm not sure if I heard Chuck Berry's or The Rolling Stones version of this great old song first. Either way, I used to play it in my first band when I was a young teenager. It was a while before I heard Nat King Cole's original, jazzier rendition. The song was composed in 1946 by American songwriter Bobby Troup. If you want to know what 'Route 66 is', well ...just listen to the lyrics!
Our version is sort of a mixture of the Chuck, Stones and Nat versions, with a bit of me thrown in.
