ℹ️ Ayodhya city mega project
Ayodhya, located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, is known for its cultural and historical significance. It is considered a sacred city in Hinduism and is associated with the birthplace of Lord Rama. The city gained prominence due to the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, which was later resolved through a Supreme Court verdict in 2019, allowing the construction of the Ram Mandir.
Ayodhya attracts pilgrims and tourists for its religious and historical sites, including the Ram Janmabhoomi, Hanuman Garhi, and various temples. The city has witnessed ongoing development projects, particularly around the Ram Mandir construction and broader infrastructure improvements.
For the latest and detailed information about Ayodhya, I recommend checking official government sources, local news outlets, or travel guides.
Temples and development are traditionally seen as mutually exclusive but the making of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya has proved that they can actually be mutually inclusive. The Ram temple is not just about religion, but business and economy too.
Addressing a public meeting in Ayodhya recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the campaign for making India a developed country is getting a new speed from Ayodhya. "Today, the foundation stone of development works worth more than Rs 15 thousand crore has been laid and inaugurated here. These infrastructure-related works will once again establish modern Ayodhya with pride on the map of the country. Today's India is beautifying its pilgrimage sites and is also immersed in the world of digital technology," he said.
Besides the temple complex, Ayodhya has attracted funding for a host of developmental and infrastructural projects which will not only boost tourism in and around the city but also turn the city into a regional growth hub that will spur business and economic activity in the wider region due to enhanced connectivity. A mega tourist city of global standards which will attract lakhs of tourists daily is bound to revolutionise the economy of more than a dozen neighbouring districts.
Rs 85,000 crore makeover
Redevelopment of Ayodhya as per Master Plan 2031 will be completed over 10 years with an investment of over Rs 85,000 crore to upgrade the holy city to meet the requirement of a daily footfall of around 3 lakh after the inauguration of the Ram Temple this month, TOI has reported.
The vision encapsulates identification of infrastructure and tourism development in Ayodhya Development Authority Area of 875 sq km, including the current master planned city area of 133 sq km and the core city of 31.5 sq km. Architect and urban planner Dikshu Kukreja, whose firm has created the vision document for the entire Ayodhya, said the design vision includes all modern amenities that a world-class city in the 21st century must have and at the same time celebrate the history and culture of this ancient place.
As per estimates, the city, after the full completion of the Ram Mandir and redevelopment, is likely to have a 1:10 ratio of residents and tourists, indicating its huge potential to attract pilgrims. Sources said the greenfield township will have provisions for state guest houses, hotels to cater to all types of visitors and commercial complexes to meet the requirements.
total of 37 state and national agencies are already working in tandem to give a new look and feel to the city with a budget of Rs 31,662 crore, as per a TOI report. While NHAI is executing projects worth Rs 10,000 crore, the public works department of UP government has also taken up 34 projects worth close to Rs 7,500 crore. Airport, railways and highways are key parts of this upgrade.
Development and infrastructure projects have been categorised into eight broad themes – Aesthetic Ayodhya, Clean Ayodhya, Efficient Ayodhya, Accessible Ayodhya, Experiential Ayodhya, Modern Ayodhya, Cultural Ayodhya and Healthy Ayodhya.
