Alex Ovechkin's 26 career overtime game-winning goals rank first in NHL history, ahead of Sidney Crosby's 20. Ovechkin originally broke the record with his own 20th, overtaking previous holder Jaromir Jagr's 19, with a dart in Detroit on October 20, 2017. Ovechkin has scored an overtime winner to accomplishment a multi-goal performance 7 times, to complete a hat trick 2 times, and to cement a four-goal game 1 time (January 31, 2008 vs. Canadiens). 12 of his overtime winners have come on the road and 6 have been fired home on the powerplay.
Perhaps Ovechkin's most notable overtime tally occurred on October 29, 2019 against the Maple Leafs, when he scored his 669th career goal to overtake Luc Robitaille for 12th-most in NHL history and most by a left winger.
