This work was born from a feeling that lingered after surfing at dusk.

When I limit the artwork to black alone,
and the music to piano alone,
I begin to feel that this is truly my own design.

It exists beyond questions of quality or evaluation—
a state where judgment falls away,
and only my hands and breath remain.

At the same time,
I felt that perhaps I could let go of how this work is received,
that it might be okay to entrust it to others.

This sensation may come from something deeply rooted
in Japanese DNA—
a tendency to avoid excessive assertion
and to leave space for others.

Musical Concept

This piece is composed using piano only.
There is no fixed rhythm;
the sounds are placed according to the flow of breathing.

Like the sea at dusk,
its contours are blurred,
yet its presence is undeniable.

Rather than explaining my emotions,
the music is meant to be gently entrusted
to the listener’s own time and inner landscape.

Ume (Japanese plum) 20%
– A subtle acidity, the moment awareness begins to rise.

Middle Note (30%)
Sumi ink 30%
– Silence and concentration before the line is drawn.
The depth of black.

Base Note (50%)
Igusa (Japanese rush grass) 50%
– A grounding calm, like sitting on the floor and settling into breath.

Artwork Note

This artwork began with a simple thought:
“I don’t know if my ego will be useful to anyone,
but I will move my hand anyway.”

Before searching for meaning,
before considering evaluation,
I simply draw the line.

The black lines, varying in thickness,
carry intention, hesitation,
and moments of wavering exactly as they are.

Some lines move toward the center,
others drift away along the way.
Nothing is denied;
what remains is accepted as it is.

This artwork is a record of trusting
the hand that is moving now,
before deciding whether it is useful to anyone.

Whether you find meaning in it or not
doesn’t matter.

That, too, is part of entrusting this work to others.

Ideally, the sound should blend naturally
with the air of the room
